Here we have two beautiful Pair of Chinese Chazhan, dating back to the Song dynasty (960-1279 AD). Historically these bowels had many uses. Primarily used for whisking white, powdered tea as the dark glaze offered a stark contrast, highlighting the teas longevity and quality. Compared to the Elite kilns, the Northern kilns mass produced Chazhan to cater for the general population - used for serving soups or broths. As seen on both bowls, the unglazed ring (Bi or Shuanggou) on the interior floor is a technique used to stack the bowels in the kiln - increasing production efficiency. Taking a closer look at both bowls, we can see that they have been damaged but repaired using a similar technique to Japanese kintsugi but using alternative materials. These stunning pieces would compliment any modern home, particularly used as small fruit balls or entryway drop bowls. The dimensions are as follows: Bowl 1: H: 5.5cm - L: 16cm - W: 16cm Bowl 2: H: 5cm - L: 17cm - W: 17cm Free Shipping with orders over £35 for UK mainland Please pay via Debit/Credit card/Bank Transfer not paypal - as we ship via private transporter and cannot provide a tracking number (they will have your contact details) Thank you for looking and please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions!
