Please note: This is an Imperfect Plant Our Imperfect Plants are healthy and ready to grow, but they show a little more character than those in our main range. These plants may have some cosmetic quirks such as old pest damage, slight browning, twisted or stunted growth, or a few damaged leaves. None of these issues affect their long-term health, and every plant is checked by our team to ensure it’s rooted and ready to thrive in your care. By choosing an Imperfect Plant, you’re giving a perfectly good plant a second chance. It’s a simple way to grow your collection while helping us reduce waste and make our production more sustainable. Each one is unique, with its own story and charm, perfect for anyone who values growth in all its forms. Due to the nature of these plants, Imperfect Plants are not eligible for exchanges or refunds. Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' is one of the most theatrical aroids in cultivation. New leaves emerge a deep, burnished red, shifting through iridescent bronze before settling into a rich, near-black dark green at maturity. The leaves are large, heart-shaped, and deeply velvety in texture, with a weight and presence that makes each one feel significant. This is a slow-growing, patient plant that rewards careful attention: the colour transformation from juvenile to mature leaf is one of the more remarkable things you will see on a houseplant shelf. As a collector's hybrid believed to have arisen through spontaneous tissue culture mutation, it sits comfortably alongside the most coveted plants in any serious Anthurium collection. Origins The precise wild lineage of Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' is not fully documented, but its parent species are rooted in the tropical cloud and montane forests of South America, where humidity is consistently high and light is filtered through dense canopy. Soil and Substrate Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts' needs a substrate with excellent drainage and aeration. Dense, moisture-retaining compost leads to root rot and stalled growth. Our Anthurium Premium Potting Mix is peat-free and formulated specifically for epiphytic Anthuriums.
