2024 Blackjack Block 6 Shiraz
Tasting Note: Bright and intense crimson red. Lifted white pepper notes combine with small red fruits, both raspberry and cherry, along with notes of toasty French oak. The mid palate a supremely elegant combination of concentration and complexity unveiling multiple layers of red berries and spice. The beautiful, sophisticated tannins a fine vehicle to carry the palate to an extended conclusion. Delicious with Classic Osso Bucco. Suggested Cellaring: 4-10 years Jeni Port- WinePilot.com Shiraz in the doldrums with drinkers? Not with a Shiraz like this. This little beauty brings all of its Central Victorian deliciousness to the glass – a free flowing, easy going, Aussie style built upon a solid fruit foundation with little obvious artefact. And, yes, there is balance, which is very much a Block 6 strong point. Ripe plum, black fruits meet chocolate, spice and concentrated aniseed-blackstrap liquorice, and it’s a warm-hearted, elegance that results. The palate is built around a solid core of fine tannins, carrying flavours long. Definitely hard to stop at just one glass. 93 pts
