Lemonade fruit is a natural hybrid between a mandarin and a lemon, and once you try it you will understand why it has a cult following. Green-skinned when harvested (they will yellow as they sit at home), these have a gentle, sweet citrus flavour with none of the sharpness of a lemon. You can eat them like a mandarin, peel and all if you like. Grown at Conscious Ground in the Byron Bay hinterland using certified organic practices. An unusual and genuinely special fruit that rarely makes it to mainstream retail. How to use: Eat fresh, peel like a mandarin and enjoy the mild sweet citrus flavour. Squeeze over fish, prawns or grilled chicken in place of lemon. Juice and mix with sparkling water and fresh mint for a natural lemonade. Add slices to water jugs or gin and tonics. Use the zest in baking, dressings and marinades for a subtler citrus note. How to store: Store at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate to extend freshness to 2 to 3 weeks.
