VOX AC-30HW 60th Anniversary - UK 2017

The VOX AC-30 is one of the most important amplifiers ever produced, helping define the sound of the British Invasion and becoming a cornerstone of popular music throughout the 1960s and beyond. To celebrate the company's 60th Anniversary, VOX released the AC30HW60 in 2017 as a limited-production tribute to the legendary 1964 AC30/6 Top Boost. Built entirely in the United Kingdom and available only during 2017, these amplifiers represented the highest level of craftsmanship and authenticity VOX offered. The AC-30HW60 was designed as a faithful recreation of the 1964 AC-30/6, complete with hand-wired construction, custom-wound transformers, and a traditional six-input layout featuring Normal, Brilliant (Top Boost), and Vib-Trem channels. Unlike many modern reissues, this model utilised a pair of specially produced Celestion Alnico Silver speakers, developed exclusively for the 60th Anniversary series and inspired by the original speakers found in vintage JMI-era amplifiers. The AC-30HW60 remains remarkably faithful to the specification of a 1964 AC-30/6. The Brilliant channel incorporates the classic Top Boost circuit, while the Vib-Trem channel provides the distinctive vibrato and tremolo effects found on original 1960s examples. Combined with the quartet of EL84 output tubes and tube rectification, the result is an amplifier that captures the immediacy, touch sensitivity, and dynamic response that established the AC30 as one of the most celebrated guitar amplifiers ever built. This particular example carries serial number 00073, placing it amongst the earliest examples produced for the limited 60th Anniversary run.
