MEDIEVAL TREFOIL PENDANT, 10th-15th CENTURY
Gilt bronze, over 3/4" width, of three closed buds form. Each bud of naturalistic form is sculpted in high relief. On a modern gilt Sterling silver neck chain with the silver surface restored. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. The trefoil was a popular motif from the time of mass conversion to Christianity, the early 9th century. It was a basic decorative motif for Vikings and for Christians, it represented the Holy Trinity.
