Bobbilibris Vol. 1
Bobbilibris Vol. 1 is an exploration of the ex libris, the personalized bookplate traditionally affixed to books to signify ownership. Derived from the Latin phrase meaning “from the books of,” ex libris occupy a unique space between graphic design, printmaking, collecting, and bibliophilia, serving as intimate expressions of identity within private libraries. Traditionally affixed inside books, ex libris (bookplates) often combine lettering, illustration, heraldry, symbolism, and personal detail, offering small-scale portraits of readers and their libraries. Drawing from an archive of historical bookplates gathered over time, this volume reproduces hundreds of examples, functioning as a visual catalog of historical bookplate design. Across 300 pages, it brings together a wide range of examples that highlight the graphic richness, intimacy, and variety of the form.
