Jowar / Sorghum Flour - Desiri
Weight: 500 grams This premium Jowar grown is freshly and coarsely stone-milled every week in India using a traditional single-stone grinding process at a slow 90 rpm to help preserve natural texture and freshness. To give you the best value without compromising softness, the flour is carefully sieved in the traditional manner once used in home hand-milling, through a 24-mesh screen. Only the larger bran particles above 0.71 mm are removed, while the finer, nutrient-rich portions are retained. The result is softer rotis with more whole grain goodness and minimal wastage — truly the biggest bang for your buck. Large bran particles above about 0.7 mm are generally less digestible and can feel coarse to many people, especially in flatbreads like rotis. The human body does not fully digest bran itself because it is rich in insoluble fiber. However, the particle size affects how comfortably it is consumed and how well nutrients from the grain are absorbed. Coarser bran particles: Can make rotis rougher, drier, and more difficult to roll May irritate sensitive digestion in some people Can reduce the bioavailability of nutrients because larger bran pieces may pass through the digestive tract more quickly Often create a gritty texture Finer bran particles: Blend more uniformly into the flour Produce softer rotis Are generally better tolerated while still retaining fiber and nutrients This is one reason traditional home milling and careful sieving practices evolved — not to completely remove bran, but to remove only the overly coarse particles while keeping the finer nutritious portions in the flour.
