Painting London Outdoors

This practical outdoor painting course explores London through direct observation, encouraging students to respond to the city’s streets, parks, architecture, and atmosphere through painting and drawing. Working across a range of locations, students will develop skills in composition, colour, tonal relationships, and capturing light within urban and natural environments. Throughout the course, students will experiment with observational studies, preparatory sketches, and sustained paintings while learning approaches to working outdoors. Individual guidance and group discussion will support students in developing confidence with materials and in finding their own visual language. Suitable for all levels, the course combines technical instruction with personal exploration, encouraging students to engage closely with London’s changing landscapes and environments.
