Celia Thaxter in Her Garden | Childe Hassam | 1892

Childe Hassam’s Celia Thaxter in Her Garden, painted in 1892, places the poet among the flowers of her island garden, with the sea visible beyond. Her pale dress is interwoven with touches of blue and violet, while blossoms and foliage gather around her in lively strokes of colour. The painting joins the intimacy of a portrait with the light and openness of a coastal garden. Frame: Created from high-quality wood, milled with simple clean lines and presented with a satin finish.
