Bell’s Earl Grey

Bell’s Earl Grey Flower type: Decorative Bloom size: ~5" Height: 4–5' Color: Pale blush / smoky lilac-pink Staking/support required: Yes Breeder’s Notes: Bell’s Earl Grey is a dahlia from my private collection I’ve been enjoying for the past several years, and I now have enough stock to share. The 5" blooms are a very pale blush pink with a cool, slightly smoky lilac cast that can be difficult to quite put your finger on. The outer petals can fade almost silvery, while the center holds deeper shades of pink and mauve. The flowers have a beautifully rounded, old-fashioned quality, with broad petals becoming smaller and more tightly curled toward the center, while inconspicuous petaloids add a little extra texture. Plants grow around 4–5' tall. Soft and moody, the color always reminded me of milky Earl Grey tea - particularly in the evening light, and the name stuck.
