Nightbloom

There’s a stretch of the Dungeon where torches won’t stay lit. They gutter, then go out, and nobody’s worked out why. Wait in the dark long enough and you’ll hear something soft unfolding all around you. That’s the Nightbloom, opening. It grows straight out of the stone, petal over petal, and it only blooms when there’s no light at all. Strike a match and it snaps shut. So the few delvers who harvest it work blind, feeling for the flowers along the walls. That’s how they find out the petals are as hard as iron. Bring one up into the light and it won’t settle on a colour. It’s purple one moment and deep green the next, depending on how you hold it. Some say it’s still looking for the dark.
