The Reclining Figure

A striking modernist composition in which the human figure is reduced to an arrangement of angular forms, sweeping curves and richly textured brushwork. Painted in a wonderfully restrained palette of charcoal, sage, olive and pale turquoise, the reclining figure emerges gradually from the surrounding abstraction. There are echoes of Cubism in the fragmented planes and overlapping shapes, while the earthy colours lend the work an unexpected softness. Newly housed in a handsome, warm-toned and rounded wooden frame, this is a beautifully considered piece that feels both architectural and intimate. Oil on Panel. Keep out of direct sunlight and gently dust with a soft cloth. Please note this item is final sale.
