Pilgerstorfer Dolce Clarinet Reeds - Singles

Pilgerstorfer has been making clarinet reeds in Austria since 1995. Alexander Pilgerstorfer is a clarinetist who studied in Linz and Vienna before turning his attention to reed making. His production method uses laser-made metal templates, specially developed planing knives and computer-calculated cutting angles. By 2012, Dolce was already part of the Pilgerstorfer lineup alongside Rondo and Morré. The Dolce is made in Austria from French cane for Boehm-system Bb clarinet. It was designed for fairly open, short-facing mouthpieces. It has a 3mm blank and an approximately 33mm vamp, if you care about those things. This is a flexible cut without a lot of built-in resistance. If you prefer a reed that pushes back, the Dolce probably isn’t where I’d start. What strength should I get? The important thing to know is that Dolce reeds run soft. In my experience, they feel about half a strength softer than Vandoren V12. Half a strength is a substantial difference. What strength should I get? In my experience, Dolce reeds feel about half a strength softer than Vandoren V12 reeds. Vandoren V12 3 → Dolce 3.5 Vandoren V12 3.5 → Dolce 4 etc If you're on the fence, pick your strength, and then pick one on either side of your strength. Since I sell these individually, you can try adjacent strengths without buying two whole boxes!
