What happens if I plug it in with the bike turned on? You risk an electrical short that damages the bike or the dongle. Power down completely every time, before the dongle goes in and before it comes out. This is the one step worth being deliberate about. Can I damage my controller with this? Yes, if you change advanced motor parameters without knowing what they do. FOC settings, phase currents, and field weakening can hurt components when set wrong. The app has no factory reset, so those screenshots are your restore point. Take them first, then start tuning. How close does my phone need to be? Within 3 to 5 feet while pairing.
