August 30 - September 3 (SUN-THURS, 9 AM–4 PM) This amazing workshop focuses on more intricate design possibilities and advanced Navajo Weaving techniques. Often referred to as a national treasure, Lynda Teller Pete will introduce you to the many Navajo tapestry techniques and traditions that have been used by the Navajo people for generations. As in the beginning weaving workshop, you’ll be provided with sample ideas, designs, a pre-warped loom, yarn, and the full array of Navajo weaving tools needed to successfully weave a rug that measures approximately 6.5" high x 8.5" wide from start to finish. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for Navajo weavers and the Navajo culture, along with a beautifully woven rug of your own, and a printed booklet. Navajo looms for each class are situated atop tables and are adjustable. The Navajo looms and tools you’ll be provided in class are available for purchase afterwards. No outside looms allowed please. Skill Level: Advanced beginner. This intermediate workshop requires previous Beginning Navajo tapestry weaving experience. *Navajo techniques require long periods of intense physical stamina. Cancellation Deadline: 7/5/2026 MEET YOUR TEACHER Lynda Teller Pete is a 5th generation Navajo weaver who is best known for weaving in the traditional Two Grey Hills pattern. Her father, Sam Teller, worked at the Two Grey Hills Trading Post in New Mexico, where she was raised with her two sisters and two brothers. The Two Grey Hills style is identified primarily by a double-diamond layout, intricate geometric design using natural colored, hand carded and hand spun wool as well as high weft counts. Acclaimed worldwide for her time-honored Navajo tapestry and teaching skills, she is the co-author of Spider Woman's Children: Navajo Weavers Today and How to Weave a Navajo Rug and Other Lessons from Spider Woman.
