Three types, each in two sizes — Small and Medium share the same filter media, the Medium simply holds more of it and lasts longer between changes.Which type Blue — carbon block microfiltration. The general-purpose cartridge: better taste and odour, holds back particles and chlorine. Small 4,000 litres, Medium 6,000 litres, or 1 year, whichever comes first. Silver — the same microfiltration plus silver ions, which suppress bacterial growth inside the cartridge itself. Worth choosing if the tap sees long idle spells, for example in a holiday home. Small 4,000 litres, Medium 6,000 litres, or 1 year. Lilac — hardness reduction and microfiltration, for hard water where scale is the problem. Note the capacity: Small 470 litres, Medium 740 litres at 15 °dKH, or 6 months. That is roughly a tenth of the Blue and Silver capacity, so on hard Irish supplies expect to replace it several times a year. Choose Lilac only if you specifically want softened drinking water and are willing to carry that running cost; otherwise Blue is the sensible default.
