Cymbidium Ba Trieu 'Prolific' (erythraeum × pumilum)

Cymbidium Ba Trieu 'Prolific' (Cym. erythraeum × pumilum) is a compact species-cross Cymbidium bred from two Asian species. Cym. erythraeum contributes the narrow, spidery bronze-olive petals with fine red striping, while Cym. pumilum brings a compact, free-flowering habit. As the cultivar name suggests, this cross is a strong, floriferous grower. What to expect Flowering: Autumn to winter. Dense, cascading spikes carrying numerous flowers per spike. Flowers: Narrow, spidery bronze-olive petals and sepals with fine dark red striping. White lip densely spotted deep red-maroon around a bright yellow column. Plant: Compact, miniature-growing habit. Supplied in a 66mm pot as an established growing plant. Growing notes Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Well-suited to southern Australian conditions. Requires cool autumn nights to initiate spiking. Light: Bright filtered light. 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade. Avoid direct midday sun.
