19th Century Mahogany Sutherland Drop-Leaf Table – Gillows Style

A handsome 19th-century mahogany Sutherland table, designed in the style of Gillows. The table features twin drop leaves raised on paired fluted and turned supports, joined by a beautifully detailed fluted central stretcher. The mahogany has a rich, warm colour with attractive figuring and a naturally aged patina. Its clever folding construction makes it exceptionally practical. When closed, the table measures only 17cm deep and can sit neatly against a wall without occupying valuable floor space. With both leaves raised, it extends to 99cm and becomes a useful occasional, games, drinks or intimate dining table. A particularly attractive example with more architectural detailing than the simpler Sutherland tables commonly encountered. It would suit both a traditional interior and a more contemporary room requiring a characterful antique piece. In good antique condition with marks, variations in colour and wear consistent with 19th-century use. The leaves and supporting mechanism are working securely.
