This design is a newly created tribute to the Barrington Tops campaign, with artwork centred on the Antarctic beech trees that grow there—living relics of the ancient Gondwanan forests that once covered the continent. After years of community organising and protest, the 1996 Bob Carr government declared more than 120,000 hectares of state forest in the region as wilderness. The artwork was created by Jeremy Cent. To mark the Wilderness Society's 50th anniversary, we've created a t-shirt for places around the country that pay tribute to landmark wins inspired by vintage campaign designs. This 'Protect Barrington Tops' t-shirt is part of our 'Wilderness Tour' collection, celebrating some of the Wilderness Society's greatest hits! Together, for five decades we've been showing up for communities, wildlife, and the wild places they need to survive. Wear this t-shirt in honour of the Barrington Tops, and the ancient beech forests that connect us to millions of years of natural history.
