While the V6 and V8 versions share many components, there are two key differences to be aware of: Bellhousing Shape – The V6 and V8 have different bellhousing profiles. Rear Output Bearing – The V6 uses a heavy-duty ball bearing, while the V8 features a roller bearing. Why does this matter? The ball bearing in the V6 provides improved support due to the higher low-end torque of Ecoboost V6 engines—making it an ideal fit for performance or towing applications. Functionally, these transmissions are nearly identical otherwise, making the V6 version a great option for many builds.
