Large Silver Plated Cocktail Shaker

A larger size, three-piece, cocktail shaker in polished finish silver plate, circa 1940. Marked on the base, A1, to signify the maker's highest classification, in order to distinguish 'superior quality' silver plate. The base also has the makers mark for Suckling Ltd, Birmingham. Founded by William Suckling in 1895, the company specialised in quality silver-plated silverware marketed under the trade names Burmese, Regis Plate, and as stamped in the base of this shaker, Kingsway Plate. Also stamped with the volume it will hold, 2 Pints. Twice the typical capacity of most other shakers! Made from a decent gauge of silver plate so it is nice and sturdy. The three-piece shaker is the quintessential design, with a base section, top and cap. The top contains an integral strainer. Dimensions: 26 cm/10¼ inches (height) x 11.5 cm/4½ inches (max. diameter).
