2015 Mail Coach Shiraz

The goldfield folk expected Thomas Craven’s mail service — the region’s first — to deliver. Our own Mail Coach does the same, consistently packed with what one expects from a true Heathcote shiraz: richness, power, spice and elegance. Here, grapes grow on ancient red soil…where an abandoned mine shaft hints at a history of gold sold and traded to Craven, and a bark-carved gumtree gives a glimpse into the lives of the land’s original inhabitants. Our signature wine and consistent medal winner. Powerful, rich, spicy, yet elegant, Mail Coach Shiraz captures the essence of what makes Heathcote a world class Shiraz producing region. We carefully hand select the fruit for this wine from both our vineyards and add a splash of our Viognier to enhance the aromatics. The wine is aged in predominantly French oak barrels for up to 16 months. Colour: Deep red with a crimson rim. Nose: Freshly ground coffee, chocolate, and black forest cake aromas. Palate: Rich and full showing dark fruit, black plum, mocha and spice, with a subtle vanillin finish. Cellaring: Drink on release or cellar for up to 15 years.
