Tjanpi

This painting depicts tjanpi —desert grass, which Rosalind Yibardi has worked with for many years as a weaver. In this painting, she brings that same knowledge into paint. Rosalind’s painting also reflects change in the landscape over her lifetime. Some grasses have appeared, others have become harder to find. In that way, this work is not only about tjanpi as part of the country, but also about keeping that knowledge close.
