Its flowers are lilac and held in little spikes like a small foxglove. This tree comes into its own in the exotic garden when it is pollarded as it will give you big dinner plate sized leaves, although you won't get the flowers. There is one on the bank at the nursery, we cut it down in the spring to 3ft, by October it is over 20ft! A must have tree!
