Rise vertically from the flight deck, rotate the nacelles forward, and race toward the mission! The MV‑22 Osprey combines the vertical-lift capability of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft, giving the Marine Corps a revolutionary way to move personnel and equipment. This Mil-Blox model captures the Osprey’s unmistakable tiltrotor design and Marine-inspired appearance. Position the nacelles for vertical operations or rotate them forward to display the aircraft in flight, making it an excellent addition to Marine Corps bases, amphibious assault ships, airfields, and military aviation collections. The Department of Defense began pursuing an advanced vertical-lift aircraft following Operation Eagle Claw in 1980. The program evolved into the V‑22 Osprey, which completed its first flight in 1989. Operational Role The Marine Corps uses the MV‑22 to transport personnel, equipment, and supplies from ships and land bases during combat assault and assault-support operations. Its ability to take off and land vertically allows it to operate without a conventional runway, while its airplane-style flight mode provides greater speed and range. The Osprey can also support medical evacuation, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and long-range expeditionary missions. Historical Significance The MV‑22 entered Marine Corps operational service in 2007 and began its first combat deployment to Iraq later that year. It replaced the CH‑46 Sea Knight as the Corps’ primary medium-lift assault-support aircraft. By combining helicopter-like access with fixed-wing performance, the Osprey significantly expanded how quickly and how far Marines could deploy from ships and forward bases. Build one of the most distinctive aircraft in modern Marine aviation and add the MV‑22 Osprey to your Mil-Blox collection.
