It is not simply a smaller frame: the crankset is 155 mm rather than 165 mm so the reach suits shorter arms, and the wheels drop to 20" so the whole cycle sits lower and is easier to get into unaided. It keeps the things that make the adult cycle easy to live with — twist shifting at the grip with internal gearing, no derailleur to adjust, a shock-resistant chain guard, and a locking parking brake so it stays put on a slope. It also adds a reversing drum brake, which gives a young rider more control going downhill. Like the Excelerator it arrives fully assembled, with a safety flag, mirror and bottle cage already fitted.
