Domaine Jean-Marc Bernhard Alsace Grand Cru “Wineck-Schlossberg” Riesling 2023. Producer: Domaine Jean-Marc Bernhard Appellation: Alsace Grand Cru AOC, Alsace, France. From the Wineck-Schlossberg Grand Cru vineyard site. Vintage: 2023 Grape Variety: 100% Riesling ABV: 13% Harvest: Hand-picked with selective harvesting Maturation: 11 months on fine lees in large oak barrels Cellaring Potential: Drink now to 2043 Accolade: 93-points from La Revue du Vin de France Viticulture & Winemaking Made exclusively from Riesling, with the fruit harvested entirely by hand and selectively picked to ensure only the best grapes make it into the wine. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts, followed by a long 11-month maturation on fine lees in large oak barrels. The extended élevage builds texture, depth and complexity while allowing the purity and natural acidity of Riesling to remain firmly at the centre of the wine. Tasting Note Lemon and grapefruit jump from the glass, followed by citrus zest and crystallised fruit in a nose that is powerful, concentrated and unmistakably Riesling. There is real intensity here, but what makes the wine exciting is the way that power is channelled through freshness and precision. The palate is rich, fleshy and broad, with impressive weight and texture from its long maturation on fine lees. Then the acidity arrives: elegant, lemony and driving, cutting through the richness and giving the wine focus. The finish is long and persistent, with citrus fruit lingering well after each mouthful. This is Grand Cru Riesling with substance and ageing potential. It already has the fruit and texture to impress now, but time should reveal another dimension, with the domaine noting increasingly pronounced minerality as it matures. Excellent with sushi and sashimi, grilled fish, richer fish dishes and white meats. Drink from 2026, or cellar confidently for 5–20 years. Post arrival price will be $97.95 Today’s pre-departure price is $63.95 per bottle. This wine is part of the shipment scheduled to arrive in December 2026/January 2027. Dispatch to you will be organised as soon as it has cleared Australian customs.
