Antique 10K Black Hills Gold Ring
Black Hills jewelry must be manufactured in the Black Hills of South Dakota in order to be described as “Black Hills Gold Jewelry.” What makes this Jewelry so unique is the yellow gold grapes with leaf designs in shades of pink and green gold. The colors are actually achieved by alloying gold and silver to produce green and alloying copper with gold to produce pink. Designed by French settler Henri LeBeau, who, soon after arriving in America, in 1886, became lost in the wilderness with no provisions. In his delirium, he had a hallucination of grapes on the vine, which led him to a creek and a nearby vineyard, where he found help. Feeling grateful for his life, he devoted himself to creating jewelry with the motif of grape clusters and leaves. From Kathy's personal collection, this Black Hills ring has the traditional grape cluster and leaf motif on a navette form with the design extending to the shoulders. A great historic American piece, sure to become a favorite in your collection!
