LONGFIN DENISONI BARB (Sahyadria denisonii) 2" ULTRA RARE
The Denison barb (Sahyadria denisonii, also called the red-line torpedo barb or roseline shark) is a fast, active freshwater schooling fish native to fast-flowing hill streams in the Western Ghats of India. Key Characteristics & Care Adult Size: 5 to 6 inches (12 to 15 cm). Appearance: Torpedo-shaped silver body with a red stripe running from the snout through the eye, a parallel black stripe extending to the tail, and yellow-and-black markings on the caudal fin. Lifespan: 5 to 7 years (up to 10 years with ideal care). Temperament: Peaceful and social, but very energetic. They must be kept in schools of 6 or more to reduce skittishness. Tank Requirements: Minimum tank size of 55 to 75+ gallons (or a 4- to 6-foot long tank) to accommodate their fast-swimming habits. Water temperature: 60°F to 79°F (15°C to 26°C). pH level: 6.8 to 7.8. Strong filtration and good water movement (mimicking fast streams). A tight-fitting lid is essential as they are strong jumpers. Tank Mates: Best with other peaceful or boisterous community fish (such as danios, tetras, or rainbowfish). Avoid slow-moving or long-finned fish that can be stressed or nipped by their speed. Diet: Omnivorous; accept quality flakes, small pellets, frozen foods (like bloodworms and brine shrimp), and blanched vegetables. Note: While standard Denison barbs are widely available in the aquarium trade, true "longfin" genetic variants are rare or uncommon mutations compared to the standard torpedo-shaped fins.
