A Room with a View
Inside what remains of a destroyed home, a man stands among the fragments of a life he once knew. Through the broken windows, the landscape is green. Trees have grown. Fields have survived. Nature has carried on. But outside is no longer simply a landscape. The land is under Israeli military control. At night, tanks move through it. Snipers watch. The people who remain are afraid to approach their own windows, afraid that simply looking outside could make them a target. A window should be a place to look out at the world. Here, it has become a place to avoid. And somehow, the green outside feels bleaker than the destruction inside — because beyond those broken walls lies not only what has been lost, but land people can no longer freely reach, see, or call their own.
