A palm branch signifies faithfulness and victory; the red ribbon entwined around it recalls martyrdom, a death for his beliefs, and sacrifice. His wedding band points to his vocation as husband and father, while St. Michael the Archangel stands behind him as defender of truth. The gold field places the image in the eternal light of God’s presence — every element directing the viewer toward the same end: Ad Deum.
