Add coffee grounds. Begin by measuring coarsely ground coffee beans into the carafe using a 1:200ml ratio—approximately 1 tablespoon per cup of water. The coarse grind is essential; it prevents sediment from penetrating the metal filter and avoids excessive pressure during the plunging process, ensuring a clean extraction and smooth brewing experience. 2. Pour hot water. Bring water to 90–96°C (195–205°F)—just below boiling point for optimal extraction. Wet the grounds with a small initial pour and allow 30-45 seconds for blooming, which releases CO2 and develops fuller flavour complexity. Follow with a gradual pour of the remaining water to ensure even saturation throughout the carafe. 3. Stir gently. Use a gentle stirring motion with a spoon to break up any dry pockets and guarantee complete saturation of all coffee grounds throughout the brew. 4. Steep the coffee. Position the lid and plunger assembly on the carafe without pressing down. Allow the coffee to steep for approximately four minutes, varying the duration according to your strength preference—extend steeping for a bolder cup or reduce it for a lighter brew. 5. Plunge slowly. Once steeping is complete, apply steady, controlled pressure as you press the plunger downward. The stainless steel filter descends uniformly, forcing spent grounds to the bottom of the carafe and cleanly separating them from your brewed coffee. 6. Pour and enjoy.
