Bonefire - Fragrance
Mmm! A bonfire! Smoke and smoke on top of smoke! Who wants a big ole smoky smokefest? NO ONE. Fortunately, the original bonefire was much more interesting. The word bonfire comes from bonefire, a term dating to the late 1400s for fires in which animal bones were burned. Early English-Latin dictionaries rendered it rather wonderfully as ignis ossium: fire of bones. Obviously, I had to make that instead. Bonefire takes the familiar smell of a fire and rebuilds it into something stranger and considerably more wearable. Tart, herbal rhubarb cuts through a heart of rich, resin-soaked agar and earthy vetiver before settling into smoky bone char. The result is dark and resinous, but never a wall of smoke. The fire is there, but so are the strange things being fed to it. One of my earliest testing notes simply read: “Oh my god, a smoke note I don't hate!” Do with that what you will.
