10.29.26 · Voices in the Vines at Chesapeake Manor Vineyard
Thursday, October 29 • 5:00–8:00 PM • Love Point, Kent Island Chesapeake Manor Vineyard wasn’t always the peaceful place you know today. Before the first vine was planted, there were people desperate to escape this ground. Servants fled into the woods. Others died after brutal treatment. People enslaved on the plantation risked everything for freedom. Behind them stood the wealthiest slave-trading family on Kent Island and the most notorious and brutal couple in Colonial Maryland. Their names survive in court records, testimony, and claims for compensation. This was their plantation. On October 29, we’ll walk the land behind those stories. Join me for Voices in the Vines, a private three-hour evening through the historic property and vineyard, ending around a bonfire as darkness settles over Love Point. We’ll follow the old paths, visit the site of the brick house, and move among the vines. Along the way, you’ll meet what lies beneath, hear about those who escaped, and possibly see what still lingers. The vines have stories. Some are better told after dark. Additional food and drinks are available to purchase separately. Chesapeake Manor Vineyard • 18+ • Only 20 guests • A portion supports Historic Kent Island, Inc.
