She is a loving and cuddly dog who is looking for a family who can help her build her confidence. She will thrive in a calm and structured environment and is an affectionate little dog who will be an amazing pet. Mocha is very barky at the moment and needs someone who can understand that this comes from being alert almost all the time and is something that can change, given patience and time. Mocha is a friendly dog who particularly likes other dachshunds, and we feel that the steadying example of another, calm, neutered dog will help Mocha to relax and adjust to her new home. She is currently walked with some other dogs and the walker sings her praises! Mocha’s anxiety means that at the moment she does have accidents in the home and will bark and chew things if left with free roam. Her current owner manages this by using a crate, and she has adjusted to this reasonably well, although she does like so sleep in bed with her human at night. We will give behaviourist support to help Mocha’s move into her new home, but she is a friendly little dog who should improve quickly in the right home. Mocha is in good health. Potential adopters will need to be prepared to travel to the Portsmouth area for meets.
