For further information please click here. About the artist Phoebe Cummings is an artist working with clay to create ephemeral sculptures and environments as a form of material performance. Her work often combines botanical forms as well as referencing decorative arts traditions, to explore themes of life, sex and death. She was ceramics artist-in-residence at the V&A 2010, Ceramics Fellow at Camden Art Centre 2012/13, winner of the British Ceramics Biennial 2011 and the BBC Woman's Hour Craft Prize 2017. She continues to exhibit internationally and is Research Associate at the Ceramics Research Centre-UK, University of Westminster. About the work Known for her large-scale work in raw clay, Phoebe Cummings has created a series of unique small ceramic works for Camden Art Centre. Each object takes a traditional pottery form as a base, engulfed or unfurling with growth. The pieces appear to be between vegetal and mineral; a mutable blend of neolithic and baroque influences.
