Le Vigne is a wine in movement. ” 97 Points - Antonio Galloni ABOUT THE WINE: Le Vigne, meaning "the vineyard," is a blend of grapes from several small parcels within the Barolo AOC. These include Baudana in Serralunga d'Alba, Villero in Castiglione Falletto, Vignane in Barolo, Merli in Novello, and the newest addition, Le Coste di Monforte in Monforte d'Alba, which contributes with 2 hectares of 45-year-old vines. Each vineyard has its own unique soil composition, aspect, and altitude, with altitude playing an essential role in cooling, which helps balance acidity and fruitiness in Barolo. Around 20-30% of the grapes are whole bunches, and fermentation occurs spontaneously in tanks. Skin contact lasts from 10 days to a month. The wine then matures in 500-litre mainly old French oak casks for a period of 20-22 months. It is bottled unfiltered, staying true to Sandrone's winemaking philosophy.
