It boarders Tanzania to the East and Rwanda to the North. It is Burundi's least populated province and known for it's mountainous high altitude and a tropical climate with cool nights. This naturally processed lot of the Bourbon variety is sun dried on raised beds which give it the distinct and punchy fruit-forward profile. Sourcing Info: This is our Sophmore harvest season with JNP Coffee in Burundi. JNP is owned by Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian. Jeanine grew up in Bujumbura, Burundi's largest city, where she recalled hearing her mother tell stories about how her family cultivated coffee in the Ngozi Province to pay their way through school. She had a very successful academic and business career, earning an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, outside of Chicago. Her successes and her business endeavors internationally would ultimately lead her back home to Burundi where she now advocates for coffee producers and their communities.
