I grew Coseytown Rosewood and its full sibling side by side for years. They were nearly identical in color, and each was a lovely fully double dahlia bloom. I mention this because as a hybridizer my plant selection decisions are based on more than just beauty. It’s the sum of many traits, including the seemingly small things, or even traits that go undiscussed that can help determine the ‘better dahlia’. As I evaluated Coseytown Rosewood and her sibling for bloom and tuber productivity, tolerance to environmental stress, vase life and more… hands down Coseytown Rosewood outperformed on every test in every season. Likewise, as I compared her to other released Coseytown dahlias, she proved herself to be a shining example of everything a Coseytown Cut Flower dahlia is. After raising this beauty all the way from seed to release and getting to know her beautiful ways season after season, I really appreciate the finer details she offers.
