Skiff Workshop cage bearings are CNC machined from solid phosphor bronze — an alloy valued for its strength, corrosion resistance, and naturally self-lubricating properties. Each cage is designed to hold more balls around the pivot than standard bearings, distributing load evenly and keeping the blade stable under use. The balls are Grade 5 silicon nitride ceramic, made to within 5 millionths of an inch of perfect roundness. Harder and lighter than steel, ceramic balls generate less friction and maintain consistent performance over time.
