The Cartographer MKii
Introducing the newest version of the Cartographer Parametric Overdrive. The MKII adds a new A/B EQ switch and a second set of parametric EQ controls, allowing you to dynamically switch between two completely different EQ settings. Using carefully selected components to deliver exceptional tone and clarity, the MKII introduces a unique and refreshing way to dial in your sound. From a dirty boost to full overdrive, the pre-gain EQ allows you to shape the character of the drive itself—unlocking tones you wouldn’t normally achieve with a traditional overdrive. If you’re looking for something that feels both familiar and capable of inspiring entirely new sounds, the Cartographer MKII is the perfect addition to your board. Parametric EQ A Parametric EQ is an adjustable filter that allows independent control of the center frequency (Freq) and gain (Cut/Boost) of your EQ band. This enables precise boosting or attenuation of specific frequencies, making it ideal for correcting resonances, shaping tonal balance, or emphasizing musical character within your signal. A unique element of The Cartographer MKII compared to traditional overdrives is that the EQ is placed before the gain stage. This means your EQ adjustments directly shape how the gain responds. Boost frequencies to push the drive into unique lead tones, or reduce them to tighten your rhythm sounds. Use it to correct tonal differences between guitars, or explore extreme textures that typical overdrives simply can’t achieve. The EQ offers ±15 dB of gain across 100 Hz – 4 kHz Gain The Cartographer MKII is a soft-clipping overdrive with a unique character, thanks to its EQ being placed before the gain stage. Turn the gain all the way down for a clean boost, dial in just the right amount of gain for dynamic breakup, or dime the gain for a searing lead tone. The circuit uses silicon diodes, high-quality JFET op-amps, and carefully selected capacitors to deliver exceptional tone and clarity. A/B EQ Switch The Cartographer MKII adds the new A/B EQ switch to the overdrive allowing you to dynamically switch between two sets of parametric EQ controls. Do everything from jumping between subtle EQ changes, extreme tone shifts and even replicating auto filter effects. Modes - The A/B EQ switch has two modes you can choose between Momentary Mode - The pedal defaults to the A position (Red LED). When the footswitch is pressed, it temporarily switches to the B position (Blue LED) and remains there only while the switch is held. Releasing the switch immediately returns the pedal to the A position. Latching Mode - In this mode, the pedal toggles between the A and B positions each time the footswitch is pressed. The selected position remains active until the switch is pressed again. How to change the mode With the pedal unplugged hold the A/B switch. While holding it, plug in the power. Wait until you see the A/B LED flashing. Release the A/B switch. Repeat this until you get the mode you want. Boot up Modes The Cartographer MKII offers three boot up modes, allowing you to choose how the pedal powers up—ideal for use with true-bypass loopers or specialized pedalboard setups. Recall – The pedal remembers the last state of both switches and powers up exactly as it was when last turned off. Always Off – The pedal always powers up bypassed, with the A/B switch set to the A position. Always On – The pedal always powers up engaged, with the A/B switch set to the A position. How to change the mode With the pedal unplugged hold the bypass switch. While holding it, plug in the power. Wait until you see the Bypass LED flashing. Release the bypass switch. Repeat this until you get the mode you want. Controls: Output: Sets the overall output level of the pedal. Gain: Controls the amount of overdrive applied to your signal, ranging from a clean boost to full, saturated drive. Freq: Selects the center frequency of the parametric EQ band. Choose the specific frequency (100 Hz – 4kHz) you want to shape with the Cut/Boost control. Cut/Boost: Adjusts the level of the selected frequency (Freq). Turn toward Cut to reduce it, or toward Boost to increase it, with up to ±15 dB of gain.
