DROPS Fabel

A 75% wool and 25% nylon fingering weight sock yarn from the ever-reliable Drops range, and one of the better value options you will find for sock knitting. What makes Fabel a little more interesting than a basic solid sock yarn is the self-patterning colours, which create a textured, marled effect as you knit without any extra effort on your part. It is spun in a softer wool quality than a lot of sock yarns, so it is more versatile than you might expect and works nicely for baby knits and lightweight accessories too. One thing to note is that Fabel comes in 50g balls rather than the 100g skeins that a lot of sock yarns come in, so you will typically need two balls for a pair of adult socks.
