'Seigen' Japanese Maple - Cutting Grown

Limited Supply - 2 per person We do a very small release each year of true 'Seigen' Japanese Maple cuttings. A famous and exceedingly rare dwarf cultivar that needs no introduction. The provenance of these cuttings is from one of our two mother trees, both originating from Micah Norcom (Mapletone Ornamentals), who created his grafted stock from a specimen provided to him by Talon Bucholz (Buchholz and Buchholz Nursery in Oregon) in 2013. These are the true Seigen: small, slender lobed leaves that emerge orange-pink to crimson in the spring and which stay small throughout the year. They are not the larger-leaf misnomered Seigen that emerges bright red like Deshojo and has fatter lobed, Deshojo-like leaves by summer... also a very cool tree - but it is not Seigen! The price of these cuttings reflects the fact that Seigen mother trees do not produce as many shoots to take cuttings from and the production of cuttings has a much higher transplant failure rate.
