Special Batch – Textile Vat Grade This woad extract is a functional, economical grade of Isatis tinctoria intended for use in indigo-style reduction vats. This particular batch looks and smells different from our regular premium woad extract: the dry material is stringer, darker and browner, with a strong natural odor. It is not a visually attractive pigment, but it performs well where it matters: in the dye vat. We are offering this batch separately, in generous 250 g packages. Ideal for dyers who want to experiment with woad, work with larger vats, or simply want an economical source of natural blue. Important: This grade is intended for textile dyeing only. It is not recommended for soap, cosmetics, paint, or other applications where the color or odor of the dry pigment matters. Multiple dips and oxidation between dips will build deeper shades. We use this at 5-10 grams per liter for beautiful blues with the typical grayish edge of woad, coming from the isatin A and B.
