How It Works: Washing and Curing in One Machine The process is split into two phases, both controlled from the UW-01's touchscreen panel: Washing. Place your print inside the sealed container filled with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or resin cleaner. An electromagnetic impeller creates a circulation flow that strips residual resin from every surface — including tight cavities and fine details. You can wash the model suspended in the basket, or leave it attached to the build plate using the adjustable bracket. The sealed container prevents spills and lets you reuse your cleaning fluid by keeping the lid closed between sessions. Curing. Once washing is complete, swap the basket for the rotating turntable and activate the UV lighting. The platform spins 360° so the light reaches every angle of the part evenly, while the mirror-finish interior reflects UV radiation for thorough curing from below as well. When a print finishes, the part is still coated in liquid, uncured resin. If left on, this layer makes the surface tacky, obscures fine details, and remains skin-irritating to the touch. Washing with isopropyl alcohol, a dedicated resin cleaner, or water (for water-washable resins) dissolves the excess resin and leaves your model clean and ready to cure. Is UV curing mandatory for resin prints? Yes. The printer only partially polymerizes the resin to shape the part. A final cure under UV light completes the reaction, giving the print its full hardness, strength, and dimensional stability. An uncured print is brittle, may warp over time, and retains some surface toxicity.How long should I wash and cure my prints? It depends on the size and resin type, but as a general guideline, a 3 to 6 minute wash is usually enough, and curing takes between 2 and 10 minutes for small to medium-sized parts. Over-curing can make prints brittle or yellowed, so it's worth adjusting the timer for each model. Can I use water instead of alcohol? Only if you're using water-washable resins. Standard resins require isopropyl alcohol or a dedicated cleaning solution, as they won't dissolve in water. Always check the datasheet for your resin to see what washing medium the manufacturer recommends. How often should I change the alcohol or cleaning solution? The liquid becomes saturated with resin over time and loses effectiveness. When you notice prints coming out less clean or the alcohol has turned very cloudy, it's time to replace it.
