Caruso & Minini 'Tagòs' Grillo Tardiva
This aperitif is so unique - we loved it before we even really knew what it was, and I think that our ability to approach it with no preconceived ideas is actually what made us love it so much. While this wine is in fact created like a dessert wine, we approached it almost as a vermouth or an interesting "could it be minimal inrtervention Marsala" mixing it right away with soda and adding a twist. Caruso e Minini is located on Sicily's westernmost coast in the Marsala region. In fact, they boast a history that dates back to the late 1800’s when Antonio Caruso bought the company to grow grapes for the nearby Marsala factories. The company was passed through several generations until Nino Caruso finally decided to begin making and bottling his own wine in the mid 1900’s. In 2004, Stefano Caruso joined forces with Mario Minini of Lombardy to launch the present-day winery. We love it with… seafood (as a spritz), bleu cheese (neat), patas bravas with a bit of a kick (as a spritz or neat) Type: Aperitifs Vintage: 2022 Size: 500mL ABV: 13% Grape: 100% Grillo Region: Sicily, Italy Vinification: Manual harvest in crates, after the natural drying of the bunches on the plant.
