Sample Itinerary DAY 1: Lahad Datu/ Tabin Wildlife Reserve/ Lipad Mud Volcano Begin your tour with a convenient pick-up from Lahad Datu and a scenic drive to Tabin Wildlife Reserve – the 44km drive should take about 1 hour 15 minutes to complete. Check-in to a timber lodge at Tabin Wildlife Resort, equipped with private balconies, ceiling fans, and heated showers. Explore the surrounding wildlife and vegetation of the resort and learn about the local medicinal jungle herbs. Head to the Lipad Mud Volcano in the afternoon to observe wildlife and climb the observation tower for birdwatching and panoramic views. End the day with a presentation on Tabin's natural wonders followed by a night walk to spot nocturnal wildlife and birds. Day 2: Lipad Waterfall Begin your second day with an early morning bird walk to spot various bird species. After breakfast, hike to Lipad Waterfall where you can swim, relax, and bask in the cascading pools of the waterfall. Upon return, the afternoon is yours to relax or rejuvenate with a Tabin Rainforest Foot Soak, using a therapeutic blend of natural herbs to soothe and stimulate the feet and enhance blood circulation. Day 3: Danum Valley Field Centre / Guided Walk After breakfast, check out of Tabin Wildlife Resort and transfer to Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC) – approximately 129km and a 3-hour drive away. Upon arrival, register at the DVFC Reception and consult with your guide on the activities you wish to pursue. Your itinerary can be tailored to suit your interests. After lunch, embark on a mid-afternoon walk around the centre to potentially spot orangutan, hornbills, and more. Enjoy dinner, followed by a guided night walk to see nocturnal wildlife. Day 4: Nature & Wildlife Observation / Night Jungle Walk Rise early for morning walk to observe nature. After breakfast, you have the option to explore a nature trail with your guide or take it easy and relax before lunch. Venture out for another guided trek in the afternoon, customisable to your interests and fitness level. After dinner, you may go out on a night walk or night safari drive to observe more nocturnal creatures. Day 5: Hike to Bukit Atur / Borneo Rainforest Lodge / Nature Trails / Canopy Walk / Night Safari Drive Rise early before dawn for a 4x4 drive or hike to Bukit Atur to catch the stunning view of the sun rising above the forest canopy (at additional fee). Alternatively, you may also opt for a morning walk with your guide. Enjoy breakfast before checking out of Danum Valley Field Centre and departing for Borneo Rainforest Lodge – 35km and a 45-minute drive away. Upon arrival, check-in at the lodge and enjoy lunch before venturing out into the forest on an afternoon trek, making a visit to the canopy walk along the way. End your day with dinner and a thrilling night safari drive as the nocturnal world comes alive in the dark. Day 6: Jungle Trek / Kadazandusun Burial Site – Coffin Cliff / Jacuzzi Pool / Danum River Tubing / Night Walk After breakfast, head out into the rainforest and trek to Coffin Cliff, a Kadazandusun burial site. From there, proceed to View Point for a bird’s eye view of the area before descending to the natural jacuzzi pool for a refreshing dip. After lunch at the lodge, you may choose between another jungle trek or a fun session of tubing down Danum River. After dinner, if weather permits, head out on a night walk for more opportunities to spot nocturnal animals. Day 7: Jungle Trek / Fairy Falls / Serpent Falls / Night Safari Drive or Walk After breakfast, embark on a morning jungle trek to Fairy Falls and Serpent Falls where you can immerse yourself even further into the sights and sounds of Danum Valley. After lunch at the lodge, head back out for an afternoon session of jungle trekking and wildlife spotting. After dinner at the lodge, you have the option to participate in a night safari drive or walk.
