Solid cubes of food-grade 304 stainless steel, cut square at 2.6 cm and polished to a mirror. Keep them in the freezer and lower two or three into a glass of white, rosé or sparkling instead of ice. They hold an already-cold glass cold for roughly fifteen to twenty minutes and take a few degrees off a room-temperature pour, without melting and without diluting a drop. They are a chiller rather than a fridge, so they will not turn a warm glass ice-cold, but they will let a poured glass sit on an outdoor table without going flat, and they will chill a glass poured from a boxed wine that never fits on a fridge shelf.There is nothing consumable here. 304 is the grade used in professional kitchens because it does not corrode, leach, chip or take on smells, there is no plating to flake and no gel core to cloud over, and a hand rinse in warm water is all the care it needs before it goes back in the lidded freezer tray that ships with every set.
