Hulne Abbey in Northumberland Plate 1 antique print. Published c.1795 with later added water-colouring. Also known as Hulne Priory or Hulne Friary. Founded c.1240, it was the home of the Carmelites or Whitefriars. Engraved by Peltro William Tomkins (1759 1840.) Paper size 233 x 186 Printed area (including text) 185 x 143 mm. Excellent condition save for small foxing stain (bottom right.) A unique hand-coloured antique print.
